PhpGedView contains more detailed family information on Residents of the Augusta
Cemetery. Make sure you keep checking back for the latest additions as
we are continually gathering and posting more data.
PhpGedView is very user-friendly and has a lot of options
available for you to view and download information on the families
you are researching. Some of the features of
PhpGedView include:

Dynamic Menus - Dynamic drop-down menus make
navigating the site quick and easy.

GEDCOM Clippings Cart - The clippings cart gives you
the ability to take Family Tree Clippings from your family tree,
download them as a GEDCOM file and import them into your
favorite family history program. (See the section below on
GEDCOM files
for more information.)

Print Preview Mode - Print your pedigree charts and
any other page in
PhpGedView without all the headers and footers -- just
the information that you want.

Favorites - You can keep bookmarks of your favorite
people.

MyGedView Portal - When you login you will have the
option of using MyGedView Portal. This portal allows you
to keep a list of your favorite people, track messages, see a
list of upcoming events, view today's events, and get a random
picture. You can also see who else is logged on.

Online Help - There is online contextual help for
every page that you can use to help navigate the site and
operate the many different functions in
PhpGedView.
You do not need to be logged in
to
PhpGedView to use most of the features this program has to
offer. However, if you want full use of the options available,
you are welcomed to sign up for a username and password.

GEDCOM Files:
GEDCOM is an acronym
for GEnealogical Data COMmunication.
In simple terms GEDCOM is a standardized method of formatting your family
tree data into a text file which can be easily read and converted by any
genealogy software program. The GEDCOM specification was originally
developed in 1985 and is owned and managed by the Family History Department
of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
If you don't have a genealogy software program you can download Personal
Ancestral File (PAF) for free from The Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-Day Saints. PAF is a free genealogy and family history
program that allows you to quickly and easily collect, organize and share
your family history and genealogy information. To download PAF from

Once you have saved GEDCOM files to your computer, you can open these files
using your genealogy software program. The following generic
instructions for opening a GEDCOM file works for
most family tree software programs. See your program's help file for more
specific instructions.

Launch your family tree program and close any open
genealogy files.

In the top-left hand corner of your screen, click the
File menu.

Select either Open, Import or Import
GEDCOM.

If .ged is not already highlighted in the "file type"
box, then scroll down and select GEDCOM or .ged.

Browse to the location on your computer where you save
your GEDCOM files and select the file that you want to open.

The program will create a new genealogy database
containing the information from the GEDCOM. Enter a filename for this
new database, making sure that is one that you can distinguish from your
own files. Example: 'powellgedcom'

Click Save or Import.

The program may then ask you to make a few choices
regarding the import of your GEDCOM file. Just follow the directions. If
you're not sure what to select, then just stick with the default
options.

Click OK.

A confirmation box may appear stating that your import
was successful.

You should now be able to read the GEDCOM file in your
genealogy software program as a regular family tree file.
